Stoping is the removal of the wanted ore from an underground mine leaving behind an open space (known as a stope).
Copper mining doesn’t use stoping, because all copper mining (or at least, the vast majority, because I’ve never heard of any other way) is done through large, massive open-pin surface mines. Stoping just doesn’t come into the picture.
