Excavate Dirt Outside Window Well To Improve View?
I have a new home with two window wells in a finished basement. The ground level outside is the top of the basement windows which are standard sized windows. They go down about 4.5 feet underground and a window well was put on them for egress. Is it possible to excavate the dirt outside to below the windows to form a patio and improve the view? I would like to make a big semi-circle patio with a 15 foot radius.

Yes you can, as long as you have a drain in the well for storm water. You can use retaining wall blocks to keep the dirt away. Build it in steps for appeal and to make it easy to get out of in case of fire. However, make sure that the windows are secure, since this also makes it easy to get to them. Hope this helps.
